Riding against the wind is like swimming up stream
It’s times like this when I wish I weighed more than I actually do. I’ve never ridden in wind like I did today and the whole time I had to fight to keep from being pushed over. It was a constant 17mph with gusts at 27mph. I’m not too sure how that compares to the winds on the plains that I’ll be riding through but I hope it won’t be that bad. But something tells me it will and that I better just get used to it. The good thing is that I got in a 50 mile (the most I’ve done so far) ride facing the wind for the majority of the time and I felt pretty good. Though I must admit there were those times when I just wanted to throw my bike on the ground out of frustration and say a few choice words. But I didn’t. Other than that I’m just enjoying my spring break by doing nothing. It's great

hey hannah - my name's terra. i did P2S last summer. i've been following your (and others') blogs from time to time and i had to respond to this one because of the subject - the wind will be inevitable. but it will become second nature to push against it. it's amazing to see what your body can do, and also how your B&B team grows because of it. you can use each other to block the wind, or you can just keep each other company while you slowly make you way. but, make your way you will! it's neat to see how aware you become of your surroundings and nature's patterns, too (the wind often becomes strongest in the afternoon). it's going to be an incredible journey for you and it will be everything you expect and more. i am excited for you and i know there are some fabulous B&B alums in seattle who will be excited to meet you all in august. best of luck.
hahaha ohhhh Wagles! I am in B&B withdrawl and bored outta my mind being stuck inside most of the past few days due to tropical storm Fay... booo FL. So i have been looking at people from the trip's blogs and I can't even describe how much I miss you right now! i wish we were cuddled up on our thermorests right now dreading our next mountain pass or the winds in NE or how someone stole our personal food or something B&B related
miss you xoxo
